Award of Canadian Notice of Allowance for Patent for CoalSwitch™

Active Energy, the London quoted renewable energy company focused on the production and development of next generation biomass products, is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a "Notice of Allowance" for the Canadian patent for its CoalSwitch™ process and the beneficiation of biomass.

The Notice of Allowance will ensure Active Energy holds the legal rights to exclude any other Canadian company from producing, selling or using the claimed CoalSwitch™ process for 17 years after the date of issuance. The proprietary CoalSwitch™ process includes subjecting steam-exploded biomass to a second washing step to remove additional salts and light volatile compounds derived from the biomass.

This new patent combines with the U.S. patents already received in 2020, for AEG's CoalSwitch™ and PeatSwitch™ technologies.

The Company continues to file further patent applications in the United States, Malaysia, Thailand and Europe.
