Sun Mobile and Bango light-up carrier billing for Google Play store

Partnership strengthens Bango presence in Asia

Cambridge, UK, 31 March 2020 - Bango (AIM: BGO), the mobile commerce company, and Sun Mobile, the Hong Kong Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO), announce the launch of carrier billing in the Google Play store. Sun Mobile customers can now purchase from the wealth of content and services in Google Play, charging the cost to their mobile phone bill.

Sun Mobile is an MVNO that is popular amongst younger consumers in Hong Kong, offering a range of TV, sport and media packages that will appeal to first time smartphone users and those looking for a fully integrated service offering. Hong Kong citizens are keen digital shoppers. The mobile commerce market is forecast to reach a value of $1.6 billion by 2021. (J.P. Morgan 2019 Payments Trends - Global Insights Report). Android accounts for over 50% of the mobile OS market (StatCounter, 2020). Popular in-app content in Hong Kong includes BFB Champions football club manager, Dragon Ball-Z and YouTube Premium.
