Product Launch

3U VPX uses 4th generation Intel® Core™ processor for performance boost

Concurrent Technologies Plc (the "Company"), a world leading specialist in the design and manufacture of high-end embedded computer products for critical applications in the defence, aerospace, telecommunications, transportation, scientific and industrial markets, is pleased to announce the release of its first processor board based on the quad-core 4th generation Intel® Core™ processor family, launched by Intel in June 2013.

The TR B12/msd is a 3U VPX board featuring the Intel® Core™ i7-4700EQ processor. With up to 16 Gbytes of DRAM and a rich assortment of I/O interfaces, this board is an ideal processor board for 3U VPX solutions requiring the latest in processing performance. 3U VPX is particularly well suited to high-end compute intensive applications in military embedded, aerospace and transportation systems for data acquisition, control systems and video signal processing.

Glen Fawcett, Managing Director, Concurrent Technologies Plc, commented:

"We are delighted to introduce one of the first 4th generation Intel® Core™ processor-based 3U VPX boards, continuing our policy of supporting the latest Intel® processing technology on key embedded architectures.  The TR B12/msd is an upgrade to our current products and will also appeal to new project applications within the high-end critical embedded market."

The quad-core 4th generation Intel® Core™ processor provides enhanced CPU and graphics performance over previous generations. Additionally, new instructions are introduced, including a performance improvement in integer and floating-point-intensive computations, particularly appropriate for image processing applications, and enhancements to accelerate data encryption and decryption in hardware.

Optional features include Built in Test (BIT) and a board level security package which provides a means to enhance the security of equipment to prevent access to sensitive data and key Intellectual Property. The TR B12/msd can be integrated into systems together with the Company's switches and mass storage boards.
