GENERAL ACCIDENT PLC - 2012 ANNUAL REPORT AND FINANCIAL STATEMENTS

General Accident plc (the "Company") has today issued to shareholders its 2012 Annual Report and Financial Statements, which is now available to view on the Aviva plc website at www.aviva.com/gareports.

Copies of the documents mentioned below have been submitted to the National Storage Mechanism and will shortly be available for inspection at www.hemscott.com/nsm.do. 

·    General Accident plc 2012 Annual Report and Financial Statements;

·    A letter to General Accident plc preference shareholders advising that the 2012 Annual Report and Financial Statements is available for viewing on the Aviva plc website;

·    A letter to General Accident plc preference shareholders forwarding a copy of the 2012 Annual Report and Financial Statements;

·    A letter to new General Accident plc preference shareholders forwarding a copy of the 2012 Annual Report and Financial Statements; and

·    A Shareholder Communications Election Form sent only to new General Accident plc preference shareholders.

The 2012 Annual Report and Financial Statements contains the following statement regarding responsibility for the financial statements and the directors' report included in the report:

The directors confirm that, to the best of each person's knowledge:

a) the Company financial statements in this report, which have been prepared in accordance with IFRS as adopted by the EU, International Financial Reporting Interpretations Committee's interpretations and those parts of the Companies Act 2006 applicable to companies reporting under IFRS, give a true and fair view of the assets, liabilities, financial position and results of the Company; and

b) the directors' report contained in this report includes a fair review of the development and performance of the business and the position of the Company, together with a description of the principal risks and uncertainties that they face.
