Board Appointment

The Board of BAE Systems plc has agreed the appointment of Ian Tyler as a non-executive director of the Company with effect from the close of the Company's Annual General Meeting to be held on 8 May 2013.

After serving as Chief Executive of Balfour Beatty plc for the past eight years, he will be stepping down from that position at the end of the month.  He is also a non-executive director of Cable & Wireless Communications Plc and a former non-executive director of VT Group plc. Mr Tyler is a chartered accountant.

Dick Olver, Chairman of BAE Systems said:  "We are very pleased to welcome Ian Tyler to the BAE Systems Board.  Ian's knowledge and deep understanding of long-term contracting businesses and his boardroom experience will be an asset to the Board, particularly as the Company continues to grow its international business and further enhance its growing reputation for excellence in programme management."

He has no details to disclose under paragraph 9.6.13 of The Listing Rules.
