WDP and Montea have signed a lease agreement with Caterpillar Distribution Services Europe for a period of 9 years, commencing on 1st January 2015, for the site at Grimbergen that they own jointly. The agreement means that the site has been actively re-leased even before the current tenant, DHL, vacates the premises (scheduled for the end of March 2014) after 40 years as a loyal client at this location. DHL remains a long-term partner at other sites belonging to both WDP and Montea.
Working in consultation with Caterpillar Distribution Services Europe, WDP and Montea plan to jointly redevelop and expand the site in Grimbergen into a strategic logistical hub of approximately 60,000 m². In all, some 29,500 m² of warehousing and 2,350 m² of office space will be refurbished, while approximately 30,000 m² of new warehousing will also be developed at the site. In a multimodal perspective the Grimbergen site is perfectly located alongside the ship canal and close to the Vilvoorde container terminal, making it ideal for sustainable logistics.
Caterpillar is the worldwide market leader in the manufacture of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines and diesel-electric locomotives and is a long-established tenant within both property portfolios.
