During the first half of 2012, the consolidated turnover of the Lotus Bakeries Group grew by a large 4%. The Group has continued to post good growth during the subsequent four months. This growth has been achieved mainly with branded products.
Lotus Bakeries expects profitability for 2012 as a whole to be in line with that of the previous year.
The major investment programme to expand production capacity for caramelized biscuits in Lembeke and for cakes in Oostakker is proceeding to schedule. The optimization of gingerbread production in the Netherlands is also now well in hand and on schedule. In mid-2013 an obsolete bakery in Geldrop will be shut and production transferred to the second bakery in Geldrop and to the bakery at Sintjohannesga in Friesland.
Lotus Bakeries focuses on authentic specialties from the biscuit and cake world: caramelized biscuits (speculoos), gingerbread, cake specialties, waffles and pepparkakor biscuits. Lotus Bakeries, with headquarters in Belgium, is a dynamic, internationally oriented company with production facilities in Belgium, the Netherlands, France and Sweden, own sales organizations in 10 European countries, in the United States, Hong Kong, China, Chile and an export department for the other countries. With around 1,200 employees, Lotus Bakeries produces and sells high-quality, tasty products under the Lotus, Peijnenburg and Annas brand names. By maintaining a healthy balance between tradition and innovation, Lotus Bakeries indulges consumers with a unique range of products. In 2011 the Group achieved a turnover of EUR 275.6 million. The shares of Lotus Bakeries are listed on Euronext Brussels.
