Antwerp, 20 September 2016, 11:00 am.
Today, Flemish Minister Philippe Muyters and Councilman Rob Van de Velde officially inaugurate Greenhouse Antwerp. Greenhouse Antwerp is Intervest's innovative, recently renovated office building. The eye-catcher is the green façade, and with 50.000 living plants it has one of the largest such façades on any office building in Belgium. This initiative perfectly fits into the City of Antwerp's Green Singel project.

The green façade helps reduce the amount of substances that cause air pollution, for example fine particulate matter and carbon dioxide. In addition to this, the vegetation reduces wind speeds along the façades. Research has moreover shown that green walls have a positive impact on the insulation performance of buildings. Finally, on top of the benefits relating to insulation, the combination of substrate, plants and air trapped in the green façade system provides good sound proofing.
"With this vertical planted wall Intervest has created the first truly living wall in the city. In addition to the pleasant visual aspect, the green wall has several significant advantages. The reduction of the urban heat island effect, bringing more biodiversity in the city and better insulation performance for buildings are some of the key advantages for society. Furthermore, increased green space in a city has a stress-reducing effect, which is just one more reason to invest in green walls. Intervest is taking a leading role in this regard, one that is greatly appreciated, given that others are now quickly following its example."

Greenhouse Antwerp is tailored to the current, new way of working. For example, with RE:flex the first two floors provide space for start-ups and co-working, along with a broad range of flexible meeting rooms.

"The new way of working can lead to a better balance between work and private life. Naturally, to do this we need an enjoyable, inspirational environment. RE:flex perfectly meets this requirement. Moreover, beginning entrepreneurs can go there if they need professional, flexible work areas, and this is something which I, as Minister for Economy, can only applaud."

portfolio and growth in the logistics segment. The renovation of this building, Uitbreidingstraat 66 in Berchem, built in 1988, fits in with this approach perfectly. Greenhouse Antwerp has been completely renovated, in terms of technical facilities as well as interior design. The company's registered office and operational activities have been located there since August 2015.
"The complete renovation of a building built in the 1980s into an inspiring, innovative working environment fits into our company's growth strategy. We believe in the market for office buildings at the right location with the right appearance. Greenhouse Antwerp is a classic example of innovative renovation, both inside and out."

The redesign was handled by Intervest's own team of interior architects. Within the offices market Intervest positions itself not just as a lessor of square metres; it also provides a wide range of services and facilities, including turn-key solutions. Intervest has also set up a restaurant in the building, the Greenhouse Café, which is completely styled to match the renovation and exploited by Cook & Style.

"Our integrated team of specialists is ready and waiting to help our customers completely (re)design their office spaces. This includes planning, budgeting, and the follow-up of works within the proposed timing. During the renovation and redesign of this building all customers were able to continue with their activities, and many of them made use of these turn-key solutions."
