World leader for aluminium anodising – www.coil.be

PRESS RELEASE

2015 FIRST-HALF REVENUES UP 5%

Brussels, July 23rd, 2015 (5:45 pm) – COIL, the world leader for aluminium anodising, is reporting €12,658,000 in revenues for the first half of 2015, up 5.4% from the first half of 2014.

Quarterly revenue trends

€'000 2015 2014 Change
1st quarter 6,357 5,247 +21.1%
2nd quarter 6,301 6,760 -6.8%
Total first-half 12,658 12,007 +5.4%

Temporary slowdown in growth during the second quarter

The second quarter of 2015 shows a slight slowdown in business. This temporary contraction in growth reflects an unfavourable base effect (the second quarter of 2014 saw 22% growth) and various external factors.

In Europe, despite sustained demand, the second quarter was primarily affected by the temporary contraction in business with one of the main rolling mill clients, which launched a major industrial reorganisation over the period. The price increases rolled out at the start of the year have made it possible to minimise the impacts of the reduced volumes, particularly for entry-level products. Alongside this, COIL has focused on diversifying its client base, supported by its strategy to expand the ranges of products and services it is able to offer.

Outside of Europe, COIL has continued to drive its commercial development forward, further strengthening its commercial positions in Asia and extending its distribution network around the world. In the second quarter, packaged offers (anodising with metal included) remained strong (around 10% of revenues), compared with a high reference from 2014. Over the full half-year period, they represented 11% of revenues, compared with 8% for the first six months of 2014.

Outlook

While remaining cautious over the short term, in view of the uncertain economic climate, COIL has sound fundamentals in place for further strengthening its business model and value creation on a lasting basis. COIL is therefore moving forward with its investment strategy in 2015, further strengthening its industrial facilities in Belgium and setting up a sixth production line in Germany, which will be operational by the end of 2016.

NEXT DATE: 2015 first-half earnings, on October 30th, 2015

COIL is the world's largest architectural and industrial anodiser.

Anodising is an electrochemical process electrolysis - that develops a natural and protective exterior layer on aluminium that can be coloured, providing exceptional corrosion protection and/or increased functionality for the metal.

Anodising preserves all the natural and ecological properties of aluminium - it retains its high strength-to-weight ratio, non-magnetic properties and exceptional corrosion resistance without any impact on the total and repeated recyclability of the metal.

Anodised aluminium is used across a wide range of architectural, designer, industrial and automotive applications.
