Dry well on Gotama
Det norske oljeselskap announces that the 31/2-21 S exploration well on
the Gotama prospect in PL 550 offshore Norway did not encounter
reservoir quality sandstones in the Upper Jurassic main target. The well
encountered reservoir quality sandstones in secondary targets, but these
were water wet. Det norske is partner in the license with a 10 percent
interest.
The 31/2-21 S wildcat was the first exploration well in the licence. The
well was targeting the Upper Jurassic Draupne sandstones as the main
target, with additional prospectivity in the Middle Jurassic Sognefjord
Formation and Brent Group.
The well was drilled by the Borgland Dolphin semi-submersible rig and is
located approximately 12 kilometres northwest of the Troll C Platform
and 120 kilometres northwest of Bergen. The well was drilled into the
Lower Jurassic Cook Formation to a total depth of 3,217 metres in water
depths of 348 metres. The well will be plugged and abandoned.
Tullow Oil Norge AS is the operator of the license with 80 percent
ownership interest and VNG holds the 10 percent.
