United States competition authority files complaint to block Wilhelmsen acquisition
On 27 April 2017, Wilhelmsen signed an agreement to acquire the technical solutions business from Drew Marine, subject to regulatory approval.
Today, the United States' Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has announced that they will file a complaint opposing the Wilhelmsen group's planned acquisition. This is standard procedure in cases where the FTC considers that a proposed transaction will substantially lessen competition.
Wilhelmsen disagrees with the FTC's evaluation and will continue to work towards a positive outcome.
A ruling is expected later this year.
