Competition and Consumer Commission in Singapore questions proposed merger between Wilhelmsen and Drew
On 27 April 2017, Wilhelmsen signed an agreement to acquire the technical solutions business from Drew Marine, subject to regulatory approval. Today, the Competition and Consumer Commission in Singapore has issued a provisional decision stating that the proposed merger in their view will substantially lessen competition in the market for the supply of water treatment chemicals in Singapore.
Wilhelmsen disagrees with the commissions conclusion and will make use of the right to address the commission's conclusion and continue to work towards a positive outcome.
A conclusion is expected later this year.
