Veidekke ASA: Fitting out Oslo K for OBOS
Veidekke has today signed a contract with OBOS Eiendom to also undertake the
interior fitting work in the spectacular and environmentally certified office
building Oslo K in Kværnerbyen in central Oslo. The value of the contract is NOK
125 million excluding VAT.
Oslo K consists of three interconnected buildings with modern design, large
window surfaces and exclusive materials. The overall floor area will be 40,000
m[2] across 11 storeys above ground and two underground floors with parking for
220 cars. Oslo K will include tailored office premises for tenants with good
access to common meeting rooms, project rooms, a canteen and a larger conference
centre with plenary rooms. The building will be certified in accordance with the
BREEAM-NOR Excellent environmental standard .
"We greatly appreciate the contract and are looking forward to completing the
project along with OBOS Eiendom. In these times of the coronavirus we are lucky
to have customers and partners such as OBOS who both manage to maintain
operations and plan for the time after the coronavirus pandemic. We and the
entire building industry depend on winning new contracts too, not just keeping
up production. This is why this contract is so welcome," says Group Chief
Executive Jimmy Bengtsson of Veidekke.
"OBOS and Veidekke are doing our part to maintain as normal operations as
possible in our building projects, and are thus ensuring that people continue to
work. It was therefore completely natural for us to start up the final interior
fitting phase for the Oslo K project as planned in collaboration with Veidekke,
with whom we have developed a good and trusting partnership over many years,"
says CEO of OBOS, Daniel Kjørberg Siraj
The new contract entails that Veidekke shall complete the common areas from the
first to the third floor and carry out basic interior fitting with technical
installations in the remainder of the building. What remains is adaptation to
the tenants' needs and desires.
The old site where Kværner engaged in industrial activity is becoming a new and
vibrant city district with 1,700 homes and around 3,000 workplaces. The location
between Ekeberg and Vålerenga is very central with a short distance to Oslo
central station and Bjørvika, and with public transport, walking trails, parks
and open spaces in the immediate vicinity.
Veidekke has carried out all building and construction work on the projects
since the cornerstone was laid down in May 2017. Oslo K will be ready for
occupation in the autumn of 2021. Read more about the project
