Extended strike could close the Johan Sverdrup field

Extended strike could close the Johan Sverdrup field

There is an ongoing strike on the Norwegian continental shelf, and the union

Lederne has taken out 43 members at the Johan Sverdrup field, where Aker BP is a

partner with 11.6 percent working interest. So far, production from the Johan

Sverdrup field has not been affected by the strike.

Equinor, the operator of Johan Sverdrup, has today announced that this situation

would change if the strike continues into 14 October. This is due to the

scheduled rotation of personnel as there would not be sufficient capacity and

competence in key operational functions at Johan Sverdrup.

Aker BP hopes that in the intervening period a solution may be found to avoid

this outcome.

None of Aker BP's other producing fields have been affected by the ongoing

strike.
