Veidekke ASA: Helping OBOS win prestigious project in Stockholm
A new collaborative concept from Veidekke is helping OBOS win rights to develop
the prestigious Gasklockan project in Stockholm's Norra Djurgårdsstaden. Here,
OBOS and Veidekke will build 320 residential units, ground floor business
premises and a preschool. Extending 110 meters above sea level, the new building
will literally put Veidekke and OBOS on the map of the Swedish capital.
"Through this concept for integrated project development, Veidekke is helping to
make the project sustainable and feasible throughout all phases from start to
finish. We are now looking forward to realising the Gasklockan project together
with OBOS," says Charlotta Nilsén, head of Veidekke Bygg Sweden.
In building contracts, various contributors are traditionally only included in
the project after the project concept has been adopted, which can lock the
project to certain processes and result in delays and poorer profitability.
Veidekke's collaborative contract concept is designed to shorten the time from
project concept to project delivery. Focus is on total estimates, including
project development, and the goal is to ensure a win for all parties.
"Veidekke's integrated project development concept enabled us to build a solid
platform for project execution and structure at an early stage, which clearly
helped us win the bid. We are now very excited to collaborate further with
Veidekke in this amazing project, to help provide more homes for Stockholmers,"
says Sofia Ljungdahl, CEO of OBOS Nya Hem.
"The city of Stockholm holds high ambitions for Norra Djurgårdsstaden. This is a
priority urban development project with a high sustainability profile, which is
precisely the type of social development we want to help realise," says Nilsén.
The Gasklockan project will extend 110 meters above sea level, to become a new
landmark in Stockholm's silhouette. Zoning plans for the project have been
adopted, and the next step is to conduct a parallel process with the
municipality to determine the final design and layout of the building.
Construction is estimated to start in 2023, with first move-in by 2026.
Stockholm City will formally confirm its decision regarding land allocation in a
meeting on 17 December.
