Veidekke ASA: Major hospital contract in Førde

Veidekke ASA: Major hospital contract in Førde

Today Veidekke has signed a contract with Helse Førde HF to build an eight

-storey hospital building in Førde. In the interaction phase that has been

ongoing for around a year, the parties have developed a very space- and cost

-effective hospital project. The contract is a turnkey contract valued at NOK

685 million excluding VAT.

Helse Førde has given priority to women and children in the new building. Among

other things, it will accommodate the new women's clinic with four new delivery

rooms, a new ward for maternity and post-natal care and a new department for

children. For mothers and children in particular, private rooms will make a

great difference for the time they spend in hospital. The building will also

have several new, advanced specialist rooms, a new surgical department with

eight operating theatres (the current ones date back to the 1970s), a new

observation unit and a new post operative ward.

"We greatly appreciate the contract. In the interaction phase we have had

thorough and good dialogue with the project organisation in Helse Førde, the

building's users and our partners. Great efforts have been made to ensure that

this will be a state-of-the-art regional hospital for the benefit of patients

throughout the region and the employees. Now we're looking forward to starting

construction work along with our local subcontractors," says district manager

Rune Karlsen of Veidekke Bygg Sogn og Fjordane.

The new building - named Livabygget - will have an area of more than 13,000 m[2]

and will be linked to the current central building. This requires rehabilitation

of around 2,000 m[2 ]in the current central building, which is also a part of

Veidekke's contract.

This is the largest single project in the extensive modernisation work currently

ongoing at Førde Central Hospital. Groundworks start up just after Easter, and

the building is scheduled to be ready for use in the spring of 2024. More

information on the project is available here: https://helse-forde.no/om-oss/nye
