Nordic Unmanned receives Light UAS Operator Certificate (LUC) under new EASA regulation

Nordic Unmanned receives Light UAS Operator Certificate (LUC) under new EASA regulation

20.4.2021 15:04:34 CEST | Nordic Unmanned | Additional regulated information

required to be disclosed under the laws of a member state

20th of April, 2021 - Sandnes, Norway - Nordic Unmanned receives the European

Light UAS Operator Certificate (LUC) issued by the Norwegian Civil Aviation

Authority under the EASA (European Union Aviation Safety Agency) EU 2019/947

rules and becomes the first European operator to receive this new certificate

for several different models of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS).

The certificate is issued under the new European Regulation in place since

1.1.2021. The LUC is the first ever issued in Norway and has LUC number 001.

The certificate allows Nordic Unmanned to deploy its entire fleet of eight

different Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) models for beyond visual line of sight

(BVLOS) flights in all EASA member countries by self-approving its operations

and leveraging simplified declaration procedures across all European countries.

It replaces the previous regulation where each country had their own rules and

procedures that were lacking uniformity from a European operator perspective.

The UAS (drone) models includes among others Schiebel Camcopter S-100, Staaker

BG-200, and Lockheed Martin Indago.

"Obtaining this pan European operator certificate is a major milestone for

Nordic Unmanned and increases efficiency of our operations within Europe and

decreases the time from customer request to delivery" says Lars A. Landsnes, COO

of Nordic Unmanned.

"As approximately 90% of our operational activities are in other European

countries than Norway, we will benefit by increasing our market reach and

increase our future commercial opportunities by receiving the LUC for our fleet

of drones. The implementation of the new regulation in all EASA member countries

will further expand our activities and fuel the European market to grow even

faster" says Knut Roar Wiig, CEO of Nordic Unmanned.
