BCS: Announce Project C

(Bergen, 14 September 2022) Bergen Carbon Solutions AS (Bergen Carbon Solutions, OSE: BCS)

Today announce that the company has started “Project C”. This project aims to investigate the possibility of using our technology to produce large amounts of graphite from CO₂.

We are constantly developing our technology, and after the successful upscaling of our CNF production from Diegel 1.0 to Diegel 2.0, and our more recently announced breakthrough with our documented ability to produce Multiwalled-CNTs, we are now launching “Project C” to investigate our ability to utilize large amounts of CO₂ to produce graphite for battery applications.

Internal studies have shown the possibility to use our core technology to also produce graphite. If “Project C” shows us that we will be able to produce large amounts of graphite from CO₂, within a competitive price range, this will be a potential gamechanger for the world’s graphite-market, especially in Europe, which is currently unable to produce enough graphite for the growing demand for batteries.

Finn Blydt-Svendsen, Interim CEO commented: “I am really happy to announce the “Project C” since this project will investigate the possibility for our technology to utilize really large volumes of CO₂ to produce, not only highly valued CNFs and CNTs, but now also graphite, to support the soaring global demand for active materials for batteries in the upcoming decades. The potential is great, but I will emphasize that we don`t know the final results of the project yet. We will update the market in due course on the further development of the project.”
