Asetek - Litigation Update
Aalborg, Denmark - October 04, 2022 - Asetek announces a settlement of the
patent infringement lawsuit pending between Asetek, CoolIT Systems, Inc., and
Corsair Gaming et al., in the Northern District of California (Case No. 3:19-cv
-00410-EMC). The terms of the settlement agreement are confidential. Asetek
expects that the parties will soon submit a joint stipulation to dismiss
Asetek's and CoolIT's claims of patent infringement with prejudice.
André S. Eriksen, CEO of Asetek, stated that "This legal case has run longer
than normal, been more expensive than normal due to COVID-19 related delays, and
recently Judge Chen made some rulings that would have required Asetek to appeal
and extended the case and our legal costs even further."
"I am firm in my belief we would have prevailed in the end and received the
damages we were entitled to, but due to the global financial situation -
especially within gaming/PC hardware, I believe the right thing for the company
and its shareholders was to focus on our cost base, settle the case and as a
consequence our legal costs will be significantly reduced from Q1 2023 and
onwards."
