BCS: BIR project confirms production of carbon products directly from flue gas

Bergen Carbon Solutions AS has since late September conducted testing at BIR’s waste management plant in Rådalen, where the goal has been to verify that our production units can produce carbon nano products directly from flue gas. We are happy to announce that results from testing at BIR indicates that BCS’ technology is successful in this. The product is not severely inhibited by impurities and other components in flue gas as per preliminary results.

The report with detailed analysis will be delivered to Enova as part of the project agreement, including characterization of the product and the electrolyte to see how impurities in flue gas have affected this over time.

The results show our potential in the CCUS-value chain, where our technology can be a game changer in utilizing industrial CO₂ emissions to produce highly valued carbon products and oxygen. For efficiency reasons we will continue to use concentrated and captured CO₂ to feed our production, but the project has given us increased confidence about the robustness of our technology.
