Veidekke: To build two new logistics buildings near Gothenburg, Sweden

Veidekke: To build two new logistics buildings near Gothenburg, Sweden

Veidekke's Swedish subsidiary BRA Bygg AB has been commissioned by the logistics

property company Catena to build two new logistics buildings with a combined

area of more than 50,000 square metres at Landvetter by Gothenburg. The two

contracts have a combined value of up to SEK 500 million.

The largest of the two projects is a collaborative design and build contract

valued at approx. SEK 400 million, with construction starting in Q1 2023 and

completion planned for summer 2024. The newbuild will comprise a total of 42 250

square metres of refrigeration and freezer warehouse and office area. Catena has

leased the facilities to Menigo Foodservice, one of Sweden's most established

distributors of food to commercial kitchens, restaurants and schools.

"We are experiencing great demand in this region, which is a hub for vital

transport routes and has access to unique logistics and transport expertise.

Through thoughtful development and management of the new buildings, we can help

build a logistics network that is more sustainable in the long term, and meets

the requirements of new trade and consumption patterns as well as for modern and

attractive workplaces," says Jonas Arvidsson, regional manager Gothenburg in

Catena.

"Our involvement in the construction of Logistikpostition Landvetter is very

rewarding, and we look forward to collaborating with Catena and contributing to

the development of the area. Menigo is an important starting point for the

logistics industry cluster, and we also welcome the project's strong

sustainability profile, says Anders Nolander, department head at BRA Bygg.

The second project is a design and build contract valued at SEK 99 million, with

construction start in March 2023 and completion planned for spring 2024. The

project comprises new construction of approx. 9 000 square meters of warehouse,

office and exhibition area for the tenant MM Sports, a leading supplier of

sports nutrition in the Nordic region.

Both buildings are part of Logistikposition Landvetter, which is emerging as one

of Sweden's leading logistics hubs. With close proximity to both airport and

harbour, the location is ideal for transshipment of goods to Gothenburg and

further on in the Nordic region. BRA is also the main contractor for site's

groundwork and civil engineering.

Logistikposition Landvetter has set a high standard for sustainability, and the

new projects are set to be certified to the BREEAM Excellent standard, the

second highest BREEAM level. The glulam support system reduces GHG emissions and

contributes to a better environment, while at the same time providing an example

for future logistics properties.

The contract is included in the Q4 2022 order book.
