Veidekke: Takes over protection work at Gothenburg's West Link

Veidekke has been commissioned by the Swedish Transport Administration to carry

out protection work on the Haga section of The West Link Project in Gothenburg.

The contract will be executed over a limited period, on an ongoing basis.

The Swedish Transport Administration recently cancelled the contract with the

contractor working on the Haga section of The West Link Project. Veidekke has

now been tasked with protection works to enable that a functioning, safe and

well-maintained workplace can be handed over to the contractors completing the

project. The protection work may entail securing the work area and maintaining

functions related to environmental permits, tunnel protection, ground

reinforcement, digging, wiring, water treatment, drainage, asphalting and

traffic diversions.

"We are proud to be carrying out protection work for the Swedish Transport

Administration and to help minimize the consequences of the contract

cancellation a few weeks back. We will work jointly with the Swedish Transport

Administration to ensure that the work is carried out as efficiently as

possible, in full transparency, and with the goal of achieving the best results

through good cooperation," says Fredrik Indevall, regional manager at Veidekke

Anläggning Väst.

Starting immediately, work will focus on gaining a common understanding of the

current state of the project, which measures are to be implemented, and how they

are to be prioritised. The work is intended to be carried out as an execution

contract with invoicing on an ongoing basis.

The Haga project comprises 1,700 meters of tunnels and a new underground station

in Haga. While the bulk will include a track tunnel and a parallel service and

rescue tunnel through rock, some shorter sections will be constructed in

concrete through clay and soil, which will involve open excavation.
