Veidekke: To renovate and remodel school in Vallentuna, Sweden

Veidekke's Swedish subsidiary Arcona has been commissioned by Vallentuna

municipality to renovate and remodel Vallentuna upper secondary school, which in

future will house both the school and municipality offices. The collaborative

design and build contract is worth approx. SEK 190 million, of which the design

phase has already been completed and amounts to approx. SEK 15 million.

The approx. 9,000 m[2] school building will be renovated and converted into

modern premises suitable for students as well as for municipality employees. The

project also comprises a car park for employees and a new rooftop building to

house the fan room. Completion of the project is expected in autumn 2024.

The idea of moving the municipality offices to the upper secondary school came

as the municipality, while looking for new premises, was seeing that the current

student body of 400 were unable to fully utilise a school building built for 650

students. The municipality hopes that the co-location will result in more

efficient use of the property.

"We are very happy to be able to sign the contract with Arcona to bring this

whole exciting project to fruition," says Magnus Sjögren, project manager at

Vallentuna municipality.

Arcona announced the contract for the design phase of the conversion in June

2022, and has now been entrusted with the actual production phase. Construction

start is just around the corner, and planning and demolition work is already

underway. Measures have been taken to ensure that the school can continue normal

operations during the project period.

this collaborative project, which has many challenges and is not an easy one. We

are ready for the task and look forward to starting production now, says Jörgen
