Veidekke: To build new Krødsherad school

Veidekke has won the price and design competition and will build the new

Krødsherad primary and lower secondary school at Noresund. The commission is a

design and build contract valued at NOK 158 million, excluding VAT.

"We are both pleased and proud to have won the competition and are grateful for

the commission. Building good schools is one of the most important things we can

do, and I am certain that the new Krødsherad school will be of great benefit to

students, teachers and other users of the school," says district manager Gro

Brathovde with Veidekke Bygg Buskerud.

The school is being built for 320 pupils from the first to tenth grades. The

first to fourth grades will be gathered around a common area on the ground

floor, while the fifth to tenth grades will be located on the second level. The

building will have good environmental qualities with energi class A, extensive

use of wood and with the opportunity for solar panels on the roof. In addition

to flexible teaching rooms, the new school will accommodate a multipurpose hall,

offices and library. The new school will also be connected to the municipality

building and swimming pool, and the old school will be demolished.

The final details of the project will now be further developed in an interaction

phase between Krødsherad municipality, Veidekke and MDH Arkitekter. Construction

is scheduled to start just before Easter with inauguration at the start of the

school year in 2025.
