Kyoto Group and Cognite Data Fusion®? synergize to drive digitalization and automation of renewable industrial process heat

Kyoto Group and Cognite Data Fusion®? synergize to drive digitalization and automation of renewable industrial process heat

Oslo, Norway, 27 November 2023 - Kyoto Group is thrilled to announce that it has

selected Cognite, a global leader in industrial data and AI software with its

flagship product Cognite Data Fusion®, to power Kyoto Group's data operations.

This collaboration is a strategic move that will benefit Kyoto’s customers.

Integrating Kyoto’s platform with Cognite Data Fusion® enables Kyoto’s customers

to optimize the operation and maintenance of Heatcube.

Powered by Cognite Data Fusion®, Kyoto’s DataOps platform unlocks improved

operational performance and reduced opex while offering state-of-the-art

preventive and predictive maintenance. It enables Kyoto to stay ahead of the

curve in a rapidly changing energy market.

Cognite solves the industrial data and AI problem by seamlessly integrating

Generative AI into its core industrial DataOps platform, Cognite Data Fusion®,

ensuring straightforward access to complex industrial data with a comprehensive

suite of AI capabilities.

“Through the seamless integration of Cognite Data Fusion® into Kyoto's DataOps

platform, we elevate the digital capabilities of current and upcoming Heatcubes

for our customer’s benefit. This positions Heatcube with capabilities to easily

integrate with emerging power market players, offering flexibility and

potentially new revenue streams for industrial plant owners. Furthermore, the

integration will empower our customers to streamline data management and cost

optimize operations, enabled by a foundation of best-in-class preventive and

predictive maintenance,” says Kyoto’s Head of Digital Acceleration, Gustavo

Zaera.

Additionally, Kyoto’s cloud based DataOps platform brings together real-time

operational data from the Heatcube Battery Management System (BMS) with various

engineering data sources. With an AI-driven core, this platform ensures that

Kyoto's engineering team receives timely and accurate feedback, enabling quick

and precise improvements.

"Kyoto provides a unique and exciting technology fit to decarbonise industry,

and at the same time improves operations of the electricity grid. Cognite is

proud to partner with Kyoto and this expands on our strong market position as a

technology provider supporting all the different actors in the future energy

system, says Cognite’s President EMEA, Emmanuelle Camus."

The first iteration of Kyoto's DataOps platform is designed, tailored, and

tested to oversee operations of Heatcube installations at multiple locations. It

can strategically manage and/or monitor Heatcube activities, making informed

decisions or advise for optimal service times and energy consumption. This

approach allows us to experiment and cater to the preferences and needs of our

customers, paving the way for the development of innovative and valuable digital

services.

Heatcube

Kyoto Heatcube provides thermal energy storage and heat generation in one

product. It supplies industrial customers with the technology needed to lower

both their costs for producing process heat and their CO2 emissions using

intermittent renewable energy sources instead of fossil fuels for heat

production.

Heatcube can be configured with storage capacities from 16 MWh to over 96 MWh,

with a discharge effect for each Heatcube of up to 20 MW. It is an innovative,

low-cost, and modular storage solution for thermal energy that can use multiple

renewable energy sources to heat molten salt to over 415 degrees Celsius. The

high-temperature salt is then used to produce steam for industrial production

processes.
