As part of its strategic country portfolio management, UNIQA Insurance Group AG evaluates continuously all markets in which UNIQA is active with regard to their prospects. SIGAL UNIQA Group Austria is active in Albania, Kosovo and North Macedonia, which are among the small markets in the Western Balkans. In the past months UNIQA has evaluated the possibilities of maybe selling UNIQA's shareholdings in Albania, Kosovo and North Macedonia (Albania, Kosovo and North Macedonia together referred to as "ALMAKOS") and held informal discussions with various interested parties on their interest in purchasing the ALMAKOS shareholdings.
Today, the managing board and the supervisory board of UNIQA Insurance Group AG have decided to sell all of UNIQA's shareholding in SIGAL UNIQA Group Austria (90 per cent. shareholding) to Mr. Avni Ponari, the founder and minority shareholder of SIGAL Group Austria. The share purchase agreement is expected to be signed in the coming days. The purchase price is subject to confidentiality. The sale to the founder and long time co shareholder of SIGAL UNIQA Group Austria ensures a swift transfer and a maximum of continuity for customers, employees and partners.
The sale will be subject to obtaining the necessary regulatory approvals.
