Duiven, the Netherlands, February 29, 2008, BE Semiconductor Industries N.V. ("the Company" or "Besi") (Euronext: BESI), a leading manufacturer of assembly equipment for the semiconductor industry, today announced the nominations of Dr. Andreas Leimbach and Ms. Mona ElNaggar for appointment as Supervisory Board members at the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders to be held on April 3, 2008 in Duiven, the Netherlands.
Dr. Leimbach (48) has extensive experience in the European business and financial communities including 18 years of service with Dresdner Bank AG, most recently as Chief Executive Officer of the Corporate Banking division. Dr. Leimbach has particular expertise in corporate banking, investment banking and corporate financial products as well as senior management and oversight of varied financial services platforms. During his tenure at Dresdner Bank, Dr. Leimbach also served as a Senior General Manager and Member of its Managing Board of Directors; Regional Head/CEO Corporate Banking, Northern Germany; and General Manager of the London branch of Dresdner Bank AG and Director of Dresdner Kleinwort Benson, amongst other positions at the company. Dr. Leimbach, a native of Germany, received a Diplom-Kaufmann in Business Administration and a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Paderborn and an MBA from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, in Finance and Marketing. Dr. Leimbach has served previously on the supervisory boards of Itelligence AG and Peppermint Financial Partners.
Ms. ElNaggar (40) has extensive experience in the area of international finance with particular expertise in asset management, technology investment banking, international mergers and acquisitions, and securitized products. Ms. ElNaggar is currently Managing Director and Head of the London office for The Investment Fund for Foundations (TIFF), a fund-of-funds manager working exclusively with American charities, endowments and foundations. Ms. ElNaggar previously founded and ran a private importer of Middle Eastern jewelry. Prior to that, she was an Executive Director at Morgan Stanley & Co., Inc. where she worked in Technology Corporate Finance, Mergers and Acquisitions and Securitized Products. As a technology banker, Ms ElNaggar's expertise was in advising semiconductor and semiconductor capital equipment clients, including ARM, ASML and STMicroelectronics. Ms. ElNaggar, a US and UK citizen, has a B.A. in Economics from the University of Chicago and an MBA from Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
Dr. Leimbach is proposed to replace Mr. Sinninghe Damsté as Chairman of the Company's Audit Committee. Mr. Damsté has indicated to the Supervisory Board that he is not available for reappointment at the 2008 Annual General Meeting of Shareholders because he has already served two terms on Besi's Supervisory Board. If both nominees are confirmed, the Besi Supervisory Board will increase from four to five members.

Duiven, 29 februari 2008, BE Semiconductor Industries N.V. ("Besi") (Euronext: BESI), een toonaangevende leverancier van machines voor assemblage van halfgeleiders, heeft vandaag het voorstel tot benoeming van Dr. Andreas Leimbach en mevrouw Mona ElNaggar als leden van de raad van commissarissen op de Algemene Vergadering van Aandeelhouders op 3 april 2008 te Duiven bekend gemaakt.
Dr. Leimbach (48) heeft jarenlange ervaring in het Europese bedrijfsleven en de financiële wereld, inclusief 18 jaar ervaring bij de Dresdner Bank AG, waar hij laatstelijk als Chief Executive Officer van de Corporate Banking divisie heeft gewerkt. Dr. Leimbach heeft met name ervaring in corporate banking, investment banking en corporate financial products evenals in senior management en het toezicht op diverse platforms met betrekking tot financiële dienstverlening. Gedurende zijn periode bij Dresdner Bank, heeft Dr. Leimbach ook gewerkt als Senior General Manager en lid van de Raad van Bestuur; als regionaal directeur/CEO Corporate Banking, Noord Duitsland; en als Algemeen Directeur van het Dresdner Bank filiaal in London en als directeur van Dresdner Kleinwort Benson, o.a. één van de functies die hij bij dit bedrijf heeft vervuld. Dr. Leimbach, met de Duitse nationaliteit, behaalde een universitaire titel in bedrijfskunde en is gepromoveerd in Finance aan de universiteit van Paderborn, Duitsland en behaalde een MBA-titel aan de Universiteit van Wisconsin, Madison, USA, in Finance en Marketing. Dr. Leimbach was eerder lid van de Raad van Commissarissen van Itelligence AG en Peppermint Financial Partners.

Voorgesteld wordt dat Dr. Leimbach de heer Sinninghe Damsté als voorzitter van de Audit Committee zal opvolgen. De heer Damsté heeft aangegeven aan de Raad van Commissarissen dat hij niet voor herbenoeming beschikbaar is op de aanstaande AVA omdat hij reeds twee periodes als lid van de Raad van Commissarissen gediend heeft. Wanneer de benoeming van beide kandidaten effectief wordt, zal daarmee de Raad van Commissarissen uit vijf leden komen te bestaan.
