Duiven, the Netherlands, April 3, 2008, BE Semiconductor Industries N.V. ("the Company" or "Besi") (Euronext: BESI), a leading manufacturer of assembly equipment for the semiconductor industry, today announced the withdrawal of two Supervisory Board nominees for appointment at today's Annual General Meeting of Shareholders. Prior to the Annual General Meeting, several shareholders communicated that they did not support the nomination of the two nominees. Therefore, the nominees have decided to withdraw because they are not fully supported by Besi's shareholders. The Supervisory Board and Board of Management fully understand the decision of the candidates.
The Supervisory Board will propose in today's shareholders meeting to form a committee of shareholder representatives to support the Supervisory Board in the selection process. The Supervisory Board will propose within 6 months new candidates who can count on sufficiently broad support from the shareholders for appointment.

Duiven, 3 april 2008, BE Semiconductor Industries N.V. ("Besi") (Euronext: BESI), een toonaangevende leverancier van machines voor assemblage van halfgeleiders, heeft vandaag bekend gemaakt dat twee kandidaten zich hebben teruggetrokken voor benoeming als lid van de Raad van Commissarissen van Besi. Voorafgaand aan de jaarlijkse algemene vergadering van aandeelhouders, die vandaag plaatsvindt, werd duidelijk dat enkele aandeelhouders de benoeming van beide kandidaten niet zouden steunen. Daarop besloten de kandidaten zich terug te trekken nu zij niet kunnen rekenen op de steun van de overgrote meerderheid van de aandeelhouders. Raad van Commissarissen en Directie hebben alle begrip voor het standpunt van de kandidaten.
De Raad van Commissarissen zal in de vergadering het voorstel doen een commissie in het leven te roepen waarin vier vertegenwoordigers van aandeelhouders zitting nemen om de Raad van Commissarissen bij te staan bij de voordracht van nieuwe kandidaten. De Raad wil binnen 6 maanden een voorstel doen voor een nieuwe voordracht van kandidaten die wel op een voldoende breed draagvlak van aandeelhouders kunnen rekenen.
