BE Semiconductor Industries Announces Appointment of Chief Financial Officer

Duiven, the Netherlands, August 4, 2008, BE Semiconductor Industries N.V. ("the Company" or "Besi") (Euronext: BESI), a leading manufacturer of assembly equipment for the semiconductor industry, today announced the appointment of Jan Willem Ruinemans as Chief Financial Officer effective October 2008.

The Supervisory Board will nominate Mr. Ruinemans as a member of Besi's Management Board to be appointed at the next Annual General Meeting of Shareholders in 2009.

Mr. Ruinemans, (38) will be responsible for the management and oversight of Besi's Finance, IT and Human Resources functions given the increased responsibilities and more central role for finance in the "One Besi" structure. Mr. Cor te Hennepe, Besi's Director of Finance, will remain at the Company with primary responsibility for accounting, controlling, internal audit and fiscal and liability management.

Prior to joining Besi, Mr. Ruinemans spent 13 years in financial management, controlling and treasury positions at Royal Philips Electronics, most recently as Senior Vice President and CFO of the Consumer Luminaires business unit within Philips Lighting, a unit which had 4,300 employees and facilities in 34 locations including Europe and Asia. Prior thereto, he was responsible for the post merger integration program for the Partners in Lighting acquisition, a major part of the business unit. Other business units for which he worked included Philips Shaving & Beauty, Philips Broadband Networks and Philips Consumer Communications. He also worked at Philips headquarters in the Corporate Finance department.

Mr. Ruinemans graduated with a masters degree in business economics from the University of Groningen and also obtained a postgraduate degree in controllership from the University of Limburg.

BE Semiconductor Industries kondigt benoeming Chief Financial Officer aan

Duiven, 4 augustus 2008, BE Semiconductor Industries N.V. ("Besi") (Euronext: BESI), een toonaangevende leverancier van machines voor assemblage van halfgeleiders, heeft vandaag de benoeming van de heer Jan Willem Ruinemans tot Chief Financial Officer (CFO) met ingang van oktober 2008 bekendgemaakt.

De Raad van Commissarissen zal tijdens de Algemene Vergadering van Aandeelhouders in 2009 de heer Ruinemans voordragen voor benoeming als lid van de Raad van Bestuur.

De heer Ruinemans (38) zal benoemd worden tot CFO gezien de toegenomen verantwoordelijkheden en de centrale rol van Finance in de "One Besi" structuur. Hij zal verantwoordelijk worden voor het management van en het toezicht op Finance, IT en Personeelszaken. De heer Cor te Hennepe, Director of Finance van Besi, blijft verantwoordelijk voor onder andere accounting, control, interne audit, fiscale zaken en "liability management".

De heer Ruinemans heeft 13 jaar ervaring in functies op het gebied van financieel management, control en treasury bij Koninklijke Philips Electronics, waar hij laatstelijk werkzaam was als Senior Vice President en CFO van de Consumer Luminaires business unit binnen Philips Lighting, met 4.300 werknemers en productiefaciliteiten op 34 locaties inclusief Europa en Azië. Daarvoor was hij verantwoordelijk voor het integratieprogramma volgend op de acquisitie van Partners in Lighting, onderdeel van voornoemde business unit. Verder heeft de heer Ruinemans gewerkt bij de business units Philips Shaving & Beauty, Philips Broadband Networks en Philips Consumer Communications. Tevens heeft hij bij Corporate Finance op het Philips hoofdkantoor gewerkt.

De heer Ruinemans heeft een doctorandus titel in bedrijfseconomie behaald aan de Universiteit van Groningen en een post-doctorale titel in controlling aan de universiteit van Limburg.
