The Management Board of DOCDATA N.V. today announces the following interim notice.
DOCDATA N.V. in Waalwijk closed the third quarter 2009 with a profit. Revenue in the third quarter 2009, as expected, decreased compared to the third quarter 2008, predominantly as a result of the sale of the replication activities of docdata media Ltd. (United Kingdom) at the end of January 2009 and the further decrease in the revenue of the media companies. Furthermore, IAI industrial systems has delivered only one system in the third quarter 2009.
DOCDATA N.V. maintained the strong financial position and solvency during the third quarter 2009. In the third quarter 2009 no material events or exceptional transactions took place that had an important impact on the financial position, the liquidity and the solvency of DOCDATA N.V. when compared to the half-year 2009 results.
The activities of both lines of business of DOCDATA N.V., with the exception of the media activities, have been impacted relatively limited in the third quarter 2009 by the difficult economic conditions, as both lines of business are well positioned in their markets. The extent to which these conditions might influence the consumer purchases in the fourth quarter, traditionally an important quarter for the retail and e-tail market, cannot yet be estimated at this moment. The effect of this on revenue and operating profit for the Internet service company Docdata in the fourth quarter 2009 is therefore hard to determine, but is limited. More important is the uncertainty at this moment to what extent IAI industrial systems can deliver a number of systems for some important orders before the end of 2009. The final planning of these deliveries is determined in close consultation between IAI industrial systems, its principals and the ultimate users. The DOCDATA N.V. Management Board therefore prefers not to make any firm forecast of the 2009 full-year results. DOCDATA N.V. will announce the 2009 results on Thursday 18 February 2010.
With the announcement of the 2009 results, the Management Board will present an update of the strategy 'Vision 2010: Gear to Growth'. The Management Board intends to give a follow-up and further development to the current strategy for the years 2010 till 2012.
The commerce, payments and fulfilment activities show further growth in the third quarter 2009, in terms of revenue, realised transaction numbers and profit compared to the third quarter 2008. The percentage of growth did decrease in the third quarter 2009 compared to the growth percentage in the first half-year 2009. The revenue level of the media activities declines further in 2009 compared to last year, as expected. The resulting impact on the operating profit however will be limited.
IAI industrial systems has delivered only one system during the third quarter 2009. At the moment, the order book of IAI industrial systems holds realised orders for € 25.5 million. The deliveries of systems for orders currently in the order book are scheduled partly in the fourth quarter 2009 and for the largest part in 2010. Work in progress has increased considerably during the third quarter 2009, and is expected to remain higher than the level per the end of the half-year 2009 also during the fourth quarter 2009.
