Tiscali e Huawei firmano un memorandum di intenti verso un'alleanza tecnologica con l'obiettivo di accelerare lo sviluppo della banda ultra larga, fino a 100Mbits, in Italia per la fornitura di servizi Multimedia su tutto il territorio nazionale

Milano, Cagliari, 24 Febbraio 2016 - Tiscali, tra le principali società di telecomunicazioni in Italia, e la filiale italiana di Huawei Technologies, leader a livello globale nelle soluzioni ICT, hanno siglato un memorandum, non impegnativo per le parti, orientato alla realizzazione di una partnership tecnologica finalizzata allo sviluppo della rete ultrabroadband in Italia. L'alleanza tra le due società prevede la messa a punto di una partnership tecnica e commerciale.

L'obiettivo del progetto è realizzare oltre 1250 Base Station a livello nazionale, nel corso dei prossimi tre anni a cominciare dal terzo trimestre 2016, su tecnologia LTE-TDD* nella frequenza 3.5GHz. L'accordo prevede la fornitura di apparati di rete a partire dalla cosiddetta core and radio network e CPE (Customer Premises Equipment). Il risultato sarà una rete TDD 4.5G WTTx (Wireless fiber to the X) capace di fornire servizi di Multimedia Broadband fino ad 1Gbps sul territorio nazionale. In particolare, la tecnologia TDD 4.5G permetterà agli utenti di usufruire di servizi di streaming in alta definizione, come per esempio i video in 4K.

Tiscali e Huawei hanno concordato di procedere nelle negoziazioni per arrivare alla firma di un accordo definitivo che prevedrà anche l'intervento di un partner finanziatore per buona parte degli investimenti.

Il documento d'intesa (non binding term sheet) è stato firmato oggi a Barcellona da Riccardo Ruggiero, Amministratore Delegato di Tiscali S.p.A., e da Edward Chan, CEO of Huawei, in occasione del "Mobile World Congress 2016".

Riccardo Ruggiero, AD di Tiscali ha dichiarato: "Abbiamo trovato in Huawei una società di alto livello, sia come fornitore di soluzioni di rete che come partner tecnologico, in grado di disegnare già oggi con noi le risposte alle necessità del futuro. L'Italia ha bisogno di un'infrastruttura di rete di nuova generazione, e il Fixed Wireless Broadband su tecnologia LTE nella frequenza 3.5GHz, in rapido consolidamento in molti paesi, si è dimostrata la soluzione più efficace per prestazioni e convenienza laddove è stata implementata. Grazie a questo accordo, anche Tiscali offrirà il meglio sul territorio italiano."

Long Term Evolution Time Division Duplex è una tecnologia mobile di trasmissione dati che segue gli standard internazionali LTE e sviluppata per le reti 4G. TISCALI AND HUAWEI TOWARDS A TECHNOLOGICAL PARTNERSHIP FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE ULTRABROADBAND MULTIMEDIA SERVICE NETWORK IN ITALY

Tiscali and Huawei are working together towards a technological alliance with the aim of accelerating the development of ultrabroadband in Italy, up to 100Mbits, for the provision of Multimedia services throughout the national territory

Milano, Cagliari, 24 February 2016 - Tiscali, one of the leading telecommunications companies in Italy, and the Italian branch of Huawei Technologies, a global leader of ICT solutions , have signed a non binding term sheet towards a technological partnership aimed at the development of ultra-broadband network in Italy. The alliance between the two companies provides for the setting up of a technical and commercial partnership.

The goal of the project is to implement over 1,250 Base Stations nationwide, over the next three years, of LTE-TDD technology* in the 3.5GHz frequency starting Q3 2016. The deal foresees the provision by Huawei of core and radio access network equipment, and CPE. The end result will be a TDD 4.5G WTTx (Wireless fiber to the X) network capable of providing Multimedia Broadband services at a peak connecting rate of up to 1Gbps, on the national territory. TDD 4.5G technologies will enable consumers to enjoy High Definition Video Services, such as 4K Video.

The parties have agreed to proceed with negotiations prospectively aimed to sign a binding contract, which will also include financing from a third party covering a large share of the total investments.

The document summarizing the main points of the negotiation (non binding term sheet) was signed today in Barcelona by Riccardo Ruggiero, CEO of Tiscali S.p.A., and Edward Chan, CEO of Huawei, at the "Mobile World Congress 2016".
