NSI Response to Budget Day announcement on FBI regime

Further to the Government announcement of planned tax measures for 2023 on Budget Day yesterday, NSI has taken notice of the statement of intent to exclude Real Estate from the Dutch Investment Trust regime (FBI) as per 1 January 2024. This announcement is entirely unexpected, especially in light of the favourable conclusions of a recently published FBI evaluation report carried out by independent Dutch research institute SEO at the behest of the Finance Ministry.

The Government has announced it will examine in the near future whether any accompanying measures are desirable and possible in 2023, subject to considerations of budgetary and legal feasibility.

NSI will now analyse the full implications of this announcement and decide on the best course of action for the business and its stakeholders going forward.
