Milan, 18 may 2022 – Orsero S.p.A (Euronext STAR Milan, ORS:IM), leader in the import and distribution of fresh fruit and vegetables in Mediterranean Europe, announces that within the scope of the project of strategic reorganization of its activities in the Iberian Peninsula, the top management in Spain and in Portugal has been renewed through the appointment of Feliciano Freiria as Managing Director of Hermanos Fernández López, and of Joao Antunes as Managing Director of Eurofrutas, both subsidiaries wholly owned by the Orsero Group.
The appointments have been implemented by enhancing talent and the internal resources of the Group, in view of the continuity of the Orsero project and with the aim of developing new synergies between the activities in Spain and Portugal. The new Managing Directors will have the purpose of continuing to develop the business in a sustainable, efficient and profitable way, by collaborating to make the two countries increasingly integrated both from a commercial and distribution point of view.
Feliciano Freiria succeeded Luis Fernandez, founding partner of Hermanos Fernández López and industrial shareholder of the Orsero Group, who will assume the role of Senior Advisor to the Board of Directors of Orsero S.p.A.. In the new role, Luis Fernandez will support the BoD of the Parent Company in identifying new growth opportunities in the Iberian Peninsula thanks to the deep knowledge of the market, of the Group's dynamics and to the extraordinary strategic vision that allowed Hermanos Fernández López to grow steadily and sustainably over the years until becoming a leading company in the distribution of fresh fruit and vegetables in Spain.
Feliciano Freiria after graduating in Law from the University of Barcelona, with a Master in Commerce and International Legislation and a Master in Management of Wholesale Food Companies, joined Hermanos Fernández López in 1996, holding roles of increasing responsibility and supporting the Fernandez family in the growth and development of the Company until becoming its Director of Operations in 2014 and then General Manager in 2020.
The Board of Directors of Hermanos Fernández López also sees the appointment of Christophe Laffon, Chief Commercial Officer of Hermanos Fernández López that will have extensive powers for the development of the Company's commercial activity and for the creation of new commercial opportunities in the coming years. Carlos Fernandez has been confirmed Finance Director with powers related to the financial and fiscal management, to the financial report and to the relations with Banking Institutions. Moreover, Matteo Colombini (CFO and Co-CEO of Orsero S.p.A.) and Alessandro Canalella (CCO of Orsero S.p.A.) will join the Board with the aim of further strengthening the strategic vision and of stimulating synergies between Spain and the other geographies of the Group.
Joao Antunes replaces Joao Mendes, that concluded his career as Managing Director as mutually agreed with the Group, after seven years of important and respected work in the turnaround and development of Portuguese activities.
Joao Antunes graduated as Agricultural Engineer at the Technical University of Lisbon, after various experiences in the sales and marketing area in companies belonging to the agri-food sector, in 2011 he became Chief Sales Officer in the company Iberian Salads Agricultura S.A.. In 2015 he joined the Orsero Group with the role of Commercial Manager of Eurofrutas S.A..
The Board of Directors of Eurofrutas then sees the entry of Cristophe Laffon (Commercial Director of Fernandez) and of Josep Segarra (Key Product Manager of Fernandez), who will support the new Managing Director of Eurofrutas in the definition of commercial and sourcing strategies always in view of a progressive integration and synergy within the Iberian Peninsula.
The Board of Directors of Orsero S.p.A. sincerely thanks Luis Fernandez and Joao Mendes for the important contribution made to the respective companies and it wishes the best to Feliciano Freiria, Joao Antunes, Christophe Laffon and Josep Segarra for their new roles and assigned responsibilities.
