Saipem: due nuovi contratti nella perforazione offshore per un valore totale di circa 550 milioni di dollari

L'estensione di 10 anni del contratto già esistente per il Perro Negro 7 conferma la strategicità di Saipem nel mercato del drilling in Medio Oriente

Milano, 26 giugno 2023 - Saipem si è aggiudicata due nuovi contratti nella perforazione offshore, uno in Medio Oriente e uno nel Mar Mediterraneo per un valore totale di circa 550 milioni di dollari.

In Medio Oriente Saipem si è assicurata la continuità delle attività in corso del jack up Perro Negro 7 a partire dalla seconda metà dell'anno garantendosi una importante estensione di dieci anni del contratto già esistente grazie anche alle ottime prestazioni raggiunte dall'impianto durante l'esecuzione delle attività. Il Perro Negro 7, jack up in grado di operare sino a 375 piedi di profondità d'acqua, è conforme alle più severe normative e agli standard ambientali più elevati ed è dotata di attrezzature tra le più avanzate.

L'estensione di 10 anni è una durata record nell'area, che solo in limitate occasioni in passato era stata concessa ad un contrattista internazionale, e rinforza ulteriormente il posizionamento strategico di Saipem nel segmento drilling. Dopo aver recentemente ampliato la sua presenza nell'area passando da tre impianti nel 2021 a sette previsti a fine 2023, grazie all'acquisizione di vari contratti pluriennali, con questo rinnovo contrattuale Saipem vede, infatti, nuovamente riconosciuto, nel principale mercato "shallow water" mondiale, il suo impegno per l'esecuzione di progetti in modo efficiente con attenzione verso la sicurezza e l'ambiente.

Nel Mar Mediterraneo Saipem si è aggiudicata, inoltre, un contratto per l'utilizzo dell'unità semisommergibile Scarabeo 9 per un periodo stimato di circa sei mesi con eventuali periodi opzionali. L'unità di perforazione di sesta generazione è dotata di doppia torre di perforazione ed è in grado di operare in ultra-deep water, ovvero a una profondità fino a 12mila piedi.

L'acquisizione di questo contratto conferma il solido posizionamento di Saipem nel mercato drilling del Mediterraneo, area che è stata caratterizzata negli anni da un apprezzabile stabilità ed attesa poter contribuire a mantenere elevati i tassi di utilizzo della flotta.

Saipem: two new offshore drilling contracts totaling approximately 550 million dollars

The 10-year extension of the existing contract for the Perro Negro 7 confirms Saipem's strategic position in the drilling market in the Middle East

Milan, June 26, 2023 - Saipem has been awarded two new offshore drilling contracts, one in the Middle East and one in the Mediterranean Sea, for a total amount of approximately 550 million dollars.

In the Middle East, Saipem has ensured the continuity of the ongoing activity of the Perro Negro 7 jack-up drilling unit from the second half of the year by securing a ten-year extension to the existing contract, thanks also to the excellent performance achieved by the asset during the execution of the activities. The Perro Negro 7, a jack-up capable of operating in up to 375 feet water depth and fitted with the most advanced equipment, is in compliance with the most stringent regulations and highest environmental standards.

The 10-year extension is a record duration in the area, which in the past had only been granted to an international contractor on limited occasions, and further strengthens Saipem's strategic positioning in the drilling segment. After having recently expanded its presence in the area from three rigs in 2021 to seven expected at the end of 2023 thanks to the acquisition of various multi-year contracts, with this contract renewal Saipem sees, once again recognition of its commitment to executing projects efficiently with attention to safety and the environment in the main "shallow water" market worldwide.

Furthermore, in the Mediterranean Sea, Saipem has been awarded a contract for the utilization of the semisubmersible unit Scarabeo 9 for an estimated period of around six months plus an optional period. The unit is a sixth-generation semisubmersible drilling rig equipped with a dual ram rig and is capable of operating in ultra deep water, i.e., at depths of up to 12,000 feet.

The acquisition of this contract confirms Saipem's solid positioning in the Mediterranean drilling market, an area which has been characterized over the years by appreciable stability and is expected to be able to contribute to keeping fleet utilization rates high.
