JAANA TAMMISTO APPOINTED MANAGING DIRECTOR OF FINLAND TRAVEL BUREAU

Finland Travel Bureau's (SMT) Board of Directors has appointed Jaana Tammisto (MBA) as the new Managing Director of the travel agency starting 1 March 2008. The current Managing Director Jukka Näräkkä leaves the post at his own request. Due to the significant structural changes that have been ongoing in the travel agency industry since the start of the millennium, a major renewal of the branch office network and operational efficiency programme were conducted at SMT under Jukka Näräkkä's leadership in 2006-2007. “We will now focus on new development and growth. The growth stage needs a new leader. Jaana Tammisto has proven herself a customer and growth-oriented leader as SMT's Commercial Director. Thanks to her knowledge of the travel agency sector, she is well equipped to succeed in her new position,” says Chairman of the SMT Board of Directors Kaisa Vikkula. “I am excited to take on this new post as we have a very committed team. We are ready to respond to the future challenges and growth demands of the company. By developing our personnel we can improve our service and the use of automation will increase our efficiency. These actions will benefit the customer most,” says SMT's new Managing Director Jaana Tammisto. Minna Tuorila, the current Sales Group Manager has been appointed as the new Commercial Director starting 1 March 2008. Finland Travel Bureau (SMT) is the leading travel agency in Finland and the Baltic States for leisure and business travel. The company was founded in 1909. SMT Group's turnover in 2007 was 55 million euros and the Group employs 630 persons. In Finland STM has a network of 22 branch offices as well as business travel centres in Helsinki, Turku, Tampere and Oulu.
