FINNAIR'S LOAD FACTORS WERE UP, AVERAGE TICKET PRICES DOWN

FINNAIR OYJ STOCK EXCHANGE RELEASE 9 OCTOBER 2008 AT 09:00 Finnair scheduled traffic increased by 7.8% compared to September last year. Number of passengers on scheduled flights was 640 146, which is 1.1% more than in 2007. Passenger load factor in scheduled passenger traffic was 76.6%, 2.6 percentage points higher than last year. Scheduled traffic unit revenues, based on revenue passenger kilometers, decreased 4.1% in third quarter. Finnair's Asian traffic grew 14.2% compared to September in the previous year. Number of passengers on Finnair's Asian flights in September was 122 411, which is 15.0% more than a year ago. Passenger load factor on Asian flights grew by 5.6 percentage points up to 84.3%. RPKs in European traffic increased by 3.6%. Capacity cuts in domestic traffic continue. In September, capacity decreased by 7.3%, which improved passenger load factor. RPKs in Finnair Leisure traffic increased 3.7% in September and ASKs decreased 2.6%. Leisure flights' passenger load factor was improved by 5.3 percentage points to 86.0% compared to the previous year. Finnair total traffic increased by 7.1% in September, while the capacity was up by 3.1%, resulting in a passenger load factor of 77.9% or 2.9 points higher than last year. Finnair transported altogether 745 364 passengers, which is 0.9% more than a year ago. Arrival punctuality of Finnair flights was 83.5%, which is 3.2 percentage points higher than in September 2007. Arrival punctuality of scheduled flights went up 2.7 points and was 84.6% Scheduled traffic In scheduled traffic (international + domestic) revenue passenger kilometres increased by 7.8%. The change in capacity was 4.1%. Passenger load factor was 76.6%, 2.6 percentage points higher than last year. In scheduled international traffic, total number of passengers was up by 4.7%. Capacity in ASKs was 4.9%, while RPKs increased by 8.5%. In European scheduled traffic, ASKs increased by 3.4%, and as RPKs increased by 3.6%, the passenger load factor was 67.4%, up 0.1 points from previous year. In North Atlantic scheduled traffic, capacity was same. Change in RPKs was -10.0%, and passenger load factor for was 83.7%, -9.3 points lower than previous year. In Asian scheduled traffic, capacity increase was 6.5%. The passenger traffic was up by 14.2%. Passenger load factor was 84.3%, 5.6 percentage points up. Domestic scheduled traffic decreased by 5.3% on a capacity decrease of 7.3%. Passenger load factor increased by 1.3 percentage points to 60.9%. Leisure traffic ASKs for leisure traffic decreased in September by 2.6%, and RPKs increased by 3.7%, resulting in a passenger load factor of 86.0%, 5.3 points higher than last year. Cargo Cargo traffic decreased by 7.7% in terms of cargo tonnes carried. Decrease in scheduled traffic was 5.9%. Decrease in Asian traffic was 2.7%. Volume in European traffic decreased by 14.9%. In North-Atlantic traffic cargo volume decreased by 11.1%. The cargo load factor was 61.3%.
