Finnair adjusts its fleet to changes in demand structure

FINNAIR PLC STOCK EXCHANGE RELEASE 7.9.2009 11.50 Next spring, as part of the harmonisation of its fleet structure, Finnair will withdraw from service three of its Leisure Traffic Boeing 757 aircraft. Finnair will continue to operate four Boeing 757 aircraft, whose replacement in the coming years with Airbus aircraft is being considered. Airbus A320 aircraft are already being used now for leisure flights. Some of this winter season's leisure flights will be operated with new Airbus A330 long-haul aircraft. Otherwise the A330 aircraft will be used in scheduled passenger traffic. “Through the arrangement, we will reduce our leisure flight capacity in the summer season, when demand for leisure flights in Finland is lower than in the winter season. We will also be able to use our long-haul fleet more flexibly on scheduled and leisure flights according to seasonal fluctuations in demand structure. In the winter season, the relative proportion of leisure flights directed to long-haul destinations compared to European destinations has been growing,” says Finnair's Deputy Chief Executive Officer Lasse Heinonen.
