Finnair Cargo offering more freighter capacity to Shanghai and New York together with World Airways

FINNAIR PLC STOCK EXCHANGE RELEASE 7 June 2011 AT 16:00 Finnair Cargo is continuing its growth by launching MD11F all cargo flights to Shanghai in co-operation with World Airways Inc. and adding frequencies to New York as from June 15th, 2011. The new service New York- Helsinki-Shanghai v.v. is operated twice a week using World's traffic rights. "We have already achieved recognition among our cargo customers in China and Europe for Finnair's daily passenger flight service to Shanghai and are now welcoming our new freighter service. Viewed from Shanghai, the new freighter services offer connections to Northern Europe and also provide fast services from Northern Europe to Shanghai. In addition to Shanghai flights more capacity to New York is welcomed", says Pertti Mero, Vice President Global Sales in Finnair Cargo. Finnair Cargo has earlier announced plans to become a minority shareholder in Nordic Global Airlines Ltd (NGA), a new all-cargo airline based in Helsinki, Finland. NGA is planning to start commercial operations later this year. "This is in line with previously announced Finnair plans and reflects the company's strategy to invest in growth sectors of the airline industry. The possibility to purchase capacity from Nordic Global Airlines and from World Airways gives us much needed additional capacity to expand in traditional as well as in new markets", says Antero J.
