BOLOGNA AIRPORT: 60 THOUSAND PASSENGERS IN FEBRUARY Restrictions due to the pandemic outbreak continue to impact on passenger traffic which reported a decrease of 89.7% on February 2020, the last pre-Covid month

The strong decrease in Bologna Airport's passenger traffic continued in February 2021: monthly passengers were slightly over 60 thousand (60,618), a reduction of 89.7% on February 2020, the last month of "normal" traffic before Covid-19 outbreak.

In detail, 22,307 domestic passengers were recorded (-81.7%), while international traffic was 38,311 (-91.8%). The flight movements were 859 (-83.4%), while air freight registered 2,755 tons, a reduction of 1.5% on February 2020.

Passenger traffic is therefore still suffering, with international flights especially impacted by anti-Covid restrictions (bans to certain Countries, swaps, quarantines, etc.), but also domestic flights experienced a harsh slowdown resulting from the prohibitions, still in force, to move to the different Italian regions excluding for business, health purposes and special needs.

The flight restrictions imposed to face the pandemic outbreak also affected the rating of the most popular destinations in February, where Catania, Casablanca and Paris CDG rank in the first three positions followed by Tirana, Madrid, Amsterdam, Istanbul, Palermo, Rome Fiumicino and Dubai.

In the first two months of the year the total number of passengers was 138,297 (-89.3%), with 2,003 movements (-81.4%) and 5,735 tons of air freight (+1.1%). Cargo is therefore the sector which is best responding to the pandemic crisis.
