Parties Responsible for Preparation of Technical Design of the LitPol Link International Power Link Selected

Litgrid AB has signed an agreement with the consortium of URS Polska Sp. z o.o., UAB Energetikos Projektai and the Lithuanian branch of URS Scott Wilson Ltd. Vilnius, Lithuania, 2012-02-21 09:08 CET (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The agreement on the technical design of the Alytus transformer substation has been signed on 21 February 2012. The value of the agreement reaches nearly LTL 1.3 million. The consortium that won the international public procurement tender (URS Polska, Energetikos Projektai and the Lithuanian branch of URS Scott Wilson Ltd.) will have to provide a technical design of the reconstruction of the 330 kV switchyard, technical specifications of the procurement of contract works, geological, geodesic and archaeological surveys, obtain a construction permit, and supervise the implementation of the construction project. The technical design is expected to be completed in January 2013. Preparation of the Alytus transformer substation for installation of the HDVC back-to-back interconnection in it is one of the key activities in preparing the Lithuanian electricity transmission system for the link with Poland. LitPol Link will become the first intersystem connection linking Lithuanian and West European electricity infrastructures. The power link between Lithuania and Poland will be launched at the capacity of 500 MW in the end of 2015 and will be operating at the capacity of 1,000 MW as of 2020.
