BOLOGNA AIRPORT: 880 THOUSAND PASSENGERS IN JUNE After nearly 2 years and a half from the pandemic's onset, Bologna Airport regains positive figures as compared with pre-Covid records: +2.4% on June 2019

Positive passenger traffic records are back at Bologna Airport. In June, after 28 months from Covid-19 world pandemic's onset, Bologna Airport's monthly passenger traffic (884,758) for the first time recorded higher figures than in June 2019 – last "normal" year – with an increase of 2.4%. Even more: Saturday 18th June 2022 was the most crowded day ever in the Airport's history, with 33,687 passengers on arrival and on departure.

The three-digit growth on June 2021 (+170.4%), is instead less significant, as it is the result of last year's predicament, with Italy's still undergoing pandemic and severe travel limitations.

As was the case with previous months, June performed differently as regards domestic and international flights. Domestic traffic recorded an important growth on 2019 as well (+27.3%), while international passengers, though on the rise in comparison with 2019, are still below pre-Covid records (-4.1%).

In detail, June 2022 registered 225,507 passengers on domestic flights (+45.2% on 2021) and 659,251 passengers on international flights (+283.3% on 2021).

June's flight movements were 6,429, a decrease of 1.5% on 2019 (but a growth of 103.7% on 2021), while air freight was 3,283 tons, an increase of 7.1% on 2019 and of 1.4% on 2021.

June's most popular destinations were: Catania, Palermo, Barcelona, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Madrid, Bari, Frankfurt, London Heathrow, Brindisi and Istanbul.

In the first half of 2022, passenger traffic and flight movements showed a further reduction of the gap on 2019, while a strong passenger growth on 2021 was confirmed. Air freight was on the rise both on 2021 and 2019.

In detail, in the first half of the year, 3,673,281 passengers were recorded (-17.3% on 2019 and +376.8% on 2021), 29,718 flight movements (-15.8% on 2019 and +224.8% on 2021) and 20,504 tons of air freight (+5.4% on 2019 and +11.2% on 2021).
