BOLOGNA AIRPORT: ALMOST 910 THOUSAND PASSENGERS WERE REACHED IN SEPTEMBER

Fourth consecutive month on the rise as compared to pre-Covid levels.

September was the fourth consecutive month recording a rise exceeding 2019 levels as regards Bologna Airport's passenger traffic. The month closed with 909,899 passengers, an increase of 1.8% on September 2019 which also means the best traffic growth ever for the month of September.

In detail, the previous months' trend was confirmed, with domestic traffic growth significantly exceeding the international component: in September 2022, 226,622 passengers were recorded on domestic flights (+29% on 2019, and +12.7% on 2021) and 683,277 passengers on international flights (-4.9% on 2019, +74.8% on 2021).

Flight movements were 6,668, a decrease of 0.5% on 2019 (+33% on 2021), meaning September's load factors were higher than in 2019 (the best year in the Airport's history).

Air freight recorded a strong growth as well: 4,294 tons + 44.4% on 2019 and +19.9% on 2021.

According to the most- popular- destination ranking, 4 Italian airports ranked in the "top-ten". Catania, Barcelona and Palermo on the podium, followed by Madrid, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Bari, Brindisi, London Heathrow, Tirana and London Stansted.

In the first three quarters of the year, the negative gap on 2019 was furtherly reduced and the strong passenger growth on 2021 was confirmed. Air freight delivered good results, on the rise both on 2019 and 2021.

In detail, in the period January – September 2022, 6,490,253 passengers were recorded (-9.5% on 2019 and +158.4% on 2021). In the first three quarters of the year, total flight movements were 50,056 (-9.8% on 2019 and +107.2% on 2021), while air freight was 31,372 tons (+10.8% on 2019 and +12% on 2021).
