Since the beginning of the year, the total number of passengers has already exceeded seven million
Another positive month for Bologna Airport: after a difficult start to the year for Covid and after a Summer that finally recorded a steady growth in passengers, Marconi recorded the best October figure in its history. With a 4.2% growth on October 2019 (last prepandemic year) and with a +44.4% on October 2021, in October 2022 Bologna airport in fact exceeded 840 thousand monthly passengers for the first time (exactly: 841.478).
As was in the previous months, since the beginning of the year, the trend of the last month is also diversified between domestic and international flights, with domestic passengers growing significantly also on 2019 (+28.4%), while international ones, although recovering from 2019, are still slightly below pre-Covid levels (-1.8%).
In detail, in October 2022 there were 206,400 passengers on domestic flights (+9.7% on 2021) and 635,078 passengers on international flights (+60.9% on 2021).
Air movements in the month were 6,306, with a crease of 1.2% on 2019 (+29.2% on 2021), while goods transported by air were 4,223 tons, up 24.8% on 2019 and up 19,2% on 2021.
The favorite destinations in July were: Catania, Barcelona, Palermo, Madrid, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Bari, Brindisi, London Heathrow, Tirana and London Stansted.
The data relating to the number of passengers and flights in the first ten months of 2022 highlight the further reduction of the negative gap over 2019, while the strong growth of passengers compared to 2021 is confirmed. Freight is on the rise on both 2019 and 2021.
In detail, 7,331,731 passengers were registered in the period January-October 2022 (- 8.1% on 2019 and +136.9% on 2021).
In the first ten months of 2022, the overall movements were 56,362 (-8.7% on 2019 and +94.1% on 2021), while the goods transported were 35,595 tons (+12.3% on 2019 and +12.8% on 2021).

As for airport infrastructure, the airport has among its strategic objectives in the next few years an important development plan that mainly concerns the expansion of the terminal, particularly in the parts of security checks and gate area. The company's aim is to make Bologna Airport one of the most modern and functional in Italy, an important gateway to the city and region.
