UNIDATA WINS IN RTI THE TENDER FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE IOT SYSTEM FOR THE MANAGEMENT OF WATER METERS IN THE METROPOLITAN CITY OF PALERMO

THE TOTAL VALUE OF THE CONTRACT IS € 2.7 MILLION THE TENDER IS PART OF THE PNRR FUNDS

Rome, February 13, 2023 - Unidata S.p.A. (EGM: UD), operator of Telecommunications, Cloud and IoT services, listed on the Euronext Growth Milan market of the Italian Stock Exchange, turned out to be the contact awardee of the tender in Temporary Grouping of Companies (RTI), with the role of Mandatory, together with BIP S.p.A. (https://www.bip-group.com/it/) and Lektor S.r.l. (https://www.lektorweb.eu/) for the functional supplies for the implementation of the Automatic Meter Management System of AMAP S.p.A. (Palermo Aqueduct Municipal Company), the water consumption monitoring system of the Metropolitan City of Palermo.

The initiative is part of the series of projects related to the Internet of Things (IoT), with a particular focus on Smart Metering solutions, for proper consumption monitoring, water budgeting and identification of potential leaks. Indeed, the possibility offered by the new IoT technologies makes it possible to limit waste for a sustainable management of the water resource.

The total value of the contract amounts to € 2.7 million, for a period of 36 months, with a concentration of activities in the first year, with several phases, including those related to the design and implementation of a purpose-built LoraWAN™ network and the remote metering station with a wireless IoT network for water meters, which includes, in addition to the application software, UniOrchesta, Unidata's as-a-service suite, for the management and control of LoRaWAN™ networks.

The system will cover 145,000 users in the Metropolitan City of Palermo, including, along with the county seat itself, additional 26 municipalities in the Eastern area and 31 municipalities in the Western area. The awarded tender is part of the PNRR funds that will finance many more project implementations in the areas of Smart Metering and Digital Management of Water Utilities for which LoRaWAN™ is one of the main IoT technologies.
