MATTI RANTANIEMI TO BE MARTELA’S NEW MANAGING DIRECTOR

MARTELA CORPORATION STOCK EXCHANGE RELEASE 1 JUNE 2015 at 9.00 a.m. Matti Rantaniemi (Engineer, MBA, born 1973) has been appointed Managing Director of Martela Corporation, which specialises in developing work environments, as of 1 October 2015. At the same time, Heikki Martela, the current Managing Director, will assume the position of Chairman of the Board. Heikki Martela announced to the Board of Directors that he will use his option to retire at the age of 60 in 2016. He will continue in the company's service for approximately six months. “I am personally very happy with the all-round competence of our new Managing Director and his eagerness to take on his new duties. Matti Rantaniemi will join Martela from the diversified US company United Technologies Corporation, where he has been in charge of the operations of Otis Oy, Carrier Oy and Kidde Finland Oy,” Heikki Martela says. During his career, Rantaniemi's duties have brought him into contact with business operations that are relevant to Martela."I am very familiar with the service business and the B-to-B business. Their profitability is also key in my new position. I'm also very familiar with challenging markets. I have successfully achieved business growth in the lift and retail refrigeration equipment markets, both of which are dominated by very strong competitors. I also believe that my experience in client environments defined by space design and architecture are important strengths in my new position,” says Rantaniemi. “I place great value on Martela's committed ownership, which provides the company with a clear direction in the longer term. In the short term, I will focus on implementing the current strategy. Furthermore, I know that the collaboration between the current Managing Director and future Chairman and myself will be fruitful. After all, Heikki Martela is a very enthusiastic salesman of activity-based offices,” Rantaniemi says. “Martela's strategy has been adjusted to serve new kinds of work environments, and we have successfully shaped our business to match the current market environment. Looking forward, we are in a very good position,” says Heikki Martela. The current Chairman Heikki Ala-Ilkka, M.Sc. (Econ.), will become a Board member when Heikki Martela assumes the duties of Chairman of the Board.
