Having archived a record-breaking 2023, with almost 10 million passengers and a growth of 17.4% on 2022, in the first month of 2024 Bologna Marconi Airport recorded 634,865 passengers, with an increase of 7.6% on January 2023.
In detail, in January 2024 there were 153,295 passengers on domestic flights, with a growth of 8.8% on the same month of 2023, while there were 481,570 passengers on international flights, with an increase of 7.2% on 2023.
Air movements were 4,991, up 7.5% on January 2023, while freight were 3,499 tons, up 5.3%.
In the ranking of 10 favorite destinations for January we find Catania, Tirana and Barcelona in the top three places. Followed by: Paris Charles de Gaulle, Istanbul, Palermo, Bucharest, London Heathrow and Rome Fiumicino.
In particular, we highlight the strong growth of the Albanian capital, which with a +46.7% on January 2023 jumps to second place in the ranking, and the return of Rome Fiumicino to the "top ten", thanks to a significant +81,3% of passengers.

Aeroporto Guglielmo Marconi di Bologna, classified as a "strategic airport" in the centre-north area of the National Airports Plan prepared by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, recorded in 2023 around 10 million passengers, ranking as the seventh biggest Italian airport by number of passengers (Source: Assaeroporti – Aeroporti2030). Located in the heart of the Emilian food valley and the automotive and packaging industrial districts, the airport has a catchment area of about 11 million inhabitants and around 47,000 companies, with a strong propensity to exports and internationalisation and with commercial expansion policies to Eastern Europe and Asia.
As for airport infrastructure, the airport has among its strategic objectives in the next few years an important development plan that mainly concerns the expansion of the terminal, particularly in the parts of security checks and gate area. The company's aim is to make Bologna Airport one of the most modern and functional in Italy, an important gateway to the city and region.
