Mit acht Prozent beteiligt sich die DEWB an dem Chicagoer Unternehmen Integrated Genomics, Inc. Mit Integrated Genomics, Inc. hat die Jenaer Venture Capital-Gesell- schaft DEWB ihr Beteiligungsportfolio im wachsenden Biotechnologie- Markt international ausgebaut. Die DEWB hält künftig acht Prozent der Aktien an dem 1997 gegründeten Biotechnologie-Unternehmen aus Chicago/USA. Integrated Genomics steht für den zukunftsträchtigen Bereich der funktionalen Genomanalyse, die mit Hilfe eigen erstellter Bioinfor- matik-Tools durchgeführt wird. Der integrierte Ansatz beginnt mit der High-Throughput-Sequenzierung von Genen und reicht über die Funktions-bestimmung mittels eigener und öffentlicher Datenbanken bis hin zur Stoffwechseloptimierung von Mikroorganismen und zur medizinischen Wirkstoffsuche. Dabei verfügt Integrated Genomics über einen großen Datenpool an bereits identifizierten DNA-Sequenzen. Vorrangig konzentriert sich das Unternehmen auf die Sequenzierung und Bestimmung von Mikroorganismen wie Bakterien, Viren und Pilze. Diese Dienstleistungen sind bei Unternehmen der Biotechnologie, der Pharmazie, der Chemie und der Nahrungsmittelindustrie gefragt. “Integrated Genomics hat seinen Namen zum Programm gemacht und bietet einen hochintegrierten Service aus einer Hand. DEWB is taking an eight percent stake in the Chicago-based firm of Integrated Genomics, Inc. Through its investment in Integrated Genomics, Inc. DEWB, the Jena-based venture capital company, is expanding its investment portfolio in the growing biotechnology market on the international level. In future, DEWB will hold eight percent of the shares in the biotech company Integrated Genomics, which is based in Chicago / USA and was founded in 1997. Integrated Genomics represents the future-oriented field of functional genome analyses which is carried out with the help of bioinformatics tools produced by the company itself. The integrated approach starts with the high-throughput sequencing of genes, extending through to function identification with the help of its own and public databases, to the optimization of the metabolism of microorganisms and to research into new active agents for medial applications. In this context, Integrated Genomics possesses an extensive pool of data on DNA sequences which have already been identified. The company concentrates primarily on the sequencing and identification of microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses and fungi. These services are required by companies in the biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, chemical and food industries. “Integrated Genomics has made its name the subject of its program and offers comprehensive services all from one source.
