Mondo TV S.P.A., Rome, is the new strategic partner of IGEL MEDIA AG, Hamburg. This morning, both companies signed an agreement for the acquisition of 30.3 per cent of the capital share of the Hamburg-based media company. The participation of Mondo TV, realised by way of a capital increase in exchange for assets paid under the exclusion of pre-emptive rights, is contingent upon the approval of IGEL MEDIA AG’s supervisory board. Thereafter, 1,000,000 shares will be owned by Mondo TV, one of the leading companies in production and distribution of animation programmes in Italy. Mondo’s market capitalisation is 271 million Euro (as of 27 March 2001). IGEL MEDIA will take over Mondo’s European distribution (excluding Italy) of about 300 hours of animation productions. Furthermore, the Italians will open the door to the Asian and Spanish-speaking markets for IGEL MEDIA AG.
