Ad hoc-Service: DCI Database english

Ad hoc announcement transmitted by DGAP. The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– Starnberg, Germany – 16 May 2001. DCI Database for Commerce and Industry AG today published its quarterly figures. At 2.948 million euros, revenue for the first three months of 2001 was up 97% on the same period last year (1.494 million euros). The number of fee-paying members rose by 487% to 39,756. According to US-GAAP, EBIT (earnings before interest and tax) was posted at minus 7.313 million euros and the consolidated profit after tax was posted at minus 6.644 million euros. The EBIT reflects the pro-rata amortisation of goodwill to the value of 1.152 million euros on the acquisition of DCI’s English subsidiary acequote.com Ltd. in 2000. Cash and cash equivalents amounted to 30.8 million euros. The WebTradeCenter business unit was the biggest revenue engine, accounting for 75.5% (or 2.227 million euros) of total revenue. DCI Media, with its subsidiary TargetPress Publishing GmbH, was the second largest driver of revenue, accounting for 23.1% (or 681,000 euros) of the total figure. A range of value- added services accounted for the remaining 1.4% (40,000 euros). In view of the current difficult climate on the b2b market and the temporary slowdown in demand for b2b e-commerce solutions, DCI consistently focussed on a cost-cutting strategy during the first three months of the year. As part of this drive to streamline costs, for example, DCI closed its Hanover sales office and rationalised its payroll. The company continues its efforts in this area and expects these cost-cutting measures to positively impact on the financial results from the second quarter onwards. Forecasts for total revenue in 2001 are currently fixed at 20 million euros, with a negative EBIT of 15 million euros. These projections assume a sustained quarterly increase in revenue. As the market remains sluggish, however, it is difficult to definitively predict at this point whether the increase in revenue will match current expectations.
