The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– SPARTA AG disposes of equity interest in THE internet.z AG Hamburg, July 16, 2001. Hamburg-based SPARTA AG (German securities code (WKN) 724 520) and other synergy investors have sold their majority interests of 51% and 45% respectively in THE internet.z AG, Hamburg, to Peloros Vermögensverwaltung AG, Munich, in a share swap. The main outcome of this transaction is that SPARTA will receive fungible shares in a company listed on the Amtlicher Handel (official market) of the German Stock Exchange. A final economic assessment is as yet impossible since the shares received cannot be disposed of due to a lock-up period ending in 2002 and because negotiated obligations to improve any share price decline cannot be evaluated. All parties have agreed not to disclose further details of the contract. The Managing Board of THE internet.z AG intends to realign the company’s business model together with the new majority owners and will report on future developments at the Annual General Meeting in August. This transaction underlines SPARTA AG’s strategy of continuing to reduce its unlisted equity investments while concentrating exclusively on its core business.
